may focus on:

of Karate, Southern Praying Mantis, Wing Chun, Krav Maga,
Bando |
| Kicking |
Taekwondo, Savate,
Capoeira, Lethwei, Tantui |
| Grappling and Throwing |
Wrestling, Shuai
Jiao, Jujutsu, Judo, Pehlwani, Sambo, Naban, Aikido, Qin na,
Kampfringen, Hapkido |
| Weaponry |
Iaido, Naginata-do,
Bojutsu, Kendo, Fencing, Kali, Gatka, Banshay, Fechtkunst |
Most martial arts include
some study of all of these different areas.
Specifically, Taekwondo is a combination of technique,
self-defense, sport, exercise, entertainment, and philosophy. The art
in general emphasizes kicks thrown from a mobile stance, using the leg's
greater reach and power to disable the opponent from a distance. In sparring,
round, front, side, and axe kicks are most often used; advanced kicks
include jump, spin, skip, and drop kicks, often in combination. Taekwondo
training also includes a comprehensive system of hand strikes and blocks.
